Creating Custom PowerPoint Bullets

Learn the steps needed for Creating Custom PowerPoint Bullets using – Colors, Size, Symbols, and Pictures.

Within PowerPoint, not only can you change the color and size of your bullets.  You can also change the style by using available symbols and creating custom PowerPoint bullets using pictures.  The custom bullets can be used to enhance and personalize your bulleted lists.  Below are the step by step instructions for changing the color, size and symbols of your bullets as well as creating custom PowerPoint bullets with pictures.

Changing the Color and Size of the Bullets

  1. Navigate to the list where you want to add the custom picture bullet or symbol and select the list. Note:  If you are starting a new list, enter the first bullet and set the color and/or size of the bullets.  The remaining bulleted items you enter will pick up the customization.   2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click the down arrow to the right of Bullets, in the Paragraph group.PowerPoint Custom Bullet Image 2
  4. Click Bullets and Numbering within the Bullets drop-down. PowerPoint Custom Bullet Image 3
  5. The Bullets and Numbering dialog box will open. PowerPoint Custom Bullet Image 4
    • Size – Click within the size box and enter a percentage. Note: The percentage is in relation to the size of the text.
    • Color – Click the down arrow next to the color fill to select the appropriate color. PowerPoint Custom Bullet Image 5
  6. Click OK once you have set the appropriate size and/or color. PowerPoint Custom Bullet Image 6

Changing the Style of the Bullets Using Symbols

  1. Navigate to the list where you want to add the custom picture bullet or symbol and select the list. Adding a Picture Bullet to a Bulleted List

  7. The Insert Picture dialog box will open. Navigate to the appropriate location and highlight the necessary file.  Click Insert to add the picture. PowerPoint Custom Bullet Image 13
